According to the Airlangga University Statutes, a department is an academic implementing unit within a faculty responsible for managing specific areas of study. Each department has the authority to plan and implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education activities in its respective field of study, and serves as a basis for developing lecturers and educational staff within the faculty.

Currently, there are two departments within the Faculty of Law at Airlangga University: the Department of Law and the Department of Legal Studies.

The Department of Law is a department within the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University, and serves as an academic implementation unit in the fields of education, research, and community service within the legal sciences. This department oversees the Undergraduate Program in Law, which serves as the foundation and primary educational program for the development of legal knowledge at the undergraduate level.

As an implementer of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), the Department of Law is committed to producing graduates who excel, possess integrity, and adapt to the dynamics of national and global law. In its implementation, academic activities in the

Department of Law include curriculum development based on outcome-based education (OBE), faculty and student research, and various student activities that support legal professional competency.

The Department of Law is chaired by Dr. Sujayadi, S.H., LL.M., who leads all academic and administrative activities and cross-disciplinary coordination within the department in accordance with the provisions of the Airlangga University Statutes and applicable Rector’s regulations.

The Department of Law is an academic unit within the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University, responsible for managing legal education programs at the postgraduate level. The department oversees three study programs:

1. Master of Law (S2 MIH)
2. Master of Notary (S2 MKn)
3. Doctor of Law (S3 DIH)

As a department focused on the development of advanced legal science, the Department of Law plays a vital role in fostering innovative, critical, and solution-oriented legal research addressing legal challenges at the national and international levels. The department also serves as a platform for the development of legal academics, practitioners, and researchers through scientific activities, research collaborations, and academic publications.

The Department of Law is chaired by Dr. Sumedi, S.H., M.H., who is responsible for coordinating all academic and non-academic activities within the department and ensuring the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in accordance with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University.
