1. To produce knowledgeable Doctor of Law Program graduates who have high academic ability and are creative, dynamic, professional, and highly competitive.

Objectives of the Doctor of Law Program

The UNAIR Doctor of Law Program aims to produce qualified graduates as follows:

1. Develop new science and technology concepts of law.
2. Develop basic and applied research programs of law.
3. Develop an interdisciplinary approach.

In accordance with the state ideology and culture of the Indonesian nation, the implementation of the national education system organized by the UNAIR Doctor of Law Program includes processes that develop affection as follows:

1) Attitude:

a. Have piety to God Almighty and be able to show a religious attitude;

b. Upholding human values in carrying out duties based on religion, morals and ethics;

c. Contributing to improving the quality of life in society, nation, state, and progress of civilization based on Pancasila;

d. Act as citizens who are proud and love their homeland, have nationalism and responsibility to the state and nation;

e. Appreciate the diversity of cultures, views, religions and beliefs, as well as other people’s original opinions or findings;

f. Working together and having social sensitivity and concern for society and the environment; g. Obey the law and discipline in social and state life;

g. Internalize academic values, norms and ethics;

h. Demonstrate a responsible attitude towards work in the field of expertise independently; And

i. Internalize the spirit of independence, struggle and entrepreneurship.

2) Knowledge Mastery:

a. Methods of legal reasoning as a whole and in depth by applying juridical and hermeneutic thinking methods, philosophy of science and philosophy of law which are the basis for developing, expanding, deepening, or discovering new and original things, in the field of Law Science and/or the field of Indonesian Law;

b. The legal philosophy that underlies the theory of certain fields of law which is the main study material in its entirety and depth, as a development of the basic law fields, including Civil Law, Criminal Law, Business Law, and International Law;

c. Normative or comparative legal research methods, either with inter, multi, or transdisciplinary approaches; and

d. The technique of writing legal scientific papers in the form of a dissertation is in accordance with academic ethics.

3) Special Skills

a. Able to compile the concept of solving legal problems through the renewal of Legal Studies and positive law;

b. Able to formulate ideas in an argumentative, innovative, and solutive manner in the field of Law, Indonesian positive law, and/or the latest legal issues in society;

c. Able to find and develop new and original things related, among others to principles, theories, values, methods, or frameworks, for the development or renewal of Indonesian Law and/or positive law in the form of a legal dissertation; And

d. Able to carry out legal research with inter, multi, or transdisciplinary approaches, independently or collaboratively, so as to produce a research road map in the field of law that can be developed for further research purposes that are beneficial for the benefit of humanity, so as to be able to gain national and/or international recognition.

4) General Skills:

a. Able to discover or develop new scientific theories/conceptions/ideas, contribute to the development and practice of science and/or technology that pays attention to and apply the values of the humanities in their field of expertise, by producing scientific research based on scientific methodology, logical, critical, systematic thinking, and creative;

b. Able to compile interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary research, including theoretical and/or experimental studies in the fields of science, technology, art and innovation as outlined in the form of dissertations, and papers that have been published in reputable international journals;

c. Able to choose research that is appropriate, current, advanced, and provides benefits to humanity through an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary approach, in order to develop and/or produce problem solving in 10 fields of science, technology, art, or society, based on the results of studies regarding the availability of internal and external resources;

d. Able to develop a research road map with an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary approach, based on a study of the main research objectives and their constellation on broader objectives;

e. Able to compile scientific, technological or artistic arguments and solutions based on a critical view of facts, concepts, principles or theories that can be accounted for scientifically and academic ethics, and communicate them through the mass media or directly to the public;

f. Able to demonstrate academic leadership in the management, development and development of resources and organizations under their responsibility;

g. Able to manage, including storing, auditing, securing, and retrieving research data and information under his/her responsibility; And

h. Able to develop and maintain collegial and peer-to-peer relationships within their own environment or through a collaborative network with research communities outside the institution.

UNAIR Doctor of Law Program graduates are expected to be able to:

1. Expand new knowledge in the field of law or the practice of the legal profession through research, to produce creative, original and tested work.
2. Solving problems in the field of law through inter, multi or transdisciplinary approaches.
3. Manage, lead, and develop research in the field of Law that is beneficial for science and the benefit of mankind in order to gain national and international recognition.

UNAIR Doctor of Law Program education is oriented towards achievement and high academic quality control and has a foundation for the development of Doctoral education process instruments, which have 3 (three) main characteristics, namely:
