In 2015, countries worldwide were committed to implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Unfortunately, the world currently faces simultaneous crises such as the climate change, the covid-19 pandemic and an increased number of conflicts around the world that have jeopardised the UNSDGs. The severity and magnitude of the crisis create a spin-off impact on food security, health, the environment, education, gender equality, peace, and security, affecting all the SDGs.

The most vulnerable countries in Asia, developing and least developed, are disproportionately impacted. There are at least three significant problems increased due to the crisis. The first is climate change. It is affected by various problem such as land degradation, glass houses or high emission. Land degradation is a major contributor to climate change, and it is foreseen as a leading driver of biodiversity loss. Second is gender issue. The global crisis also affects women who have suffered a more significant share of job losses combined with increased care work at home. Some evidence suggests that the pandemic and war have exacerbated violence against women. The third is the challenge of SDGs implementation into local and national policy due to systemic barriers such as the availability and reliable data, lack of political will, weak capacity and technical know-how and inadequate mechanism. On the other hand, countries should continue to implement the SDGs at the national and localevels to fight the adverse effects of global crisis.

Departing from these significant problems, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga Indonesia, will organise The 4th International Conference on Law, Government and Globalization (ICLGG) on August 2023. The conference’s purpose is to seek and gather high-quality studies from the research, comparative, survey-based or cased-based under interdisciplinary studies to answer and describe how the implementation of SDGs is a road to crisis recovery in Asia.

The ICLGG is a forum of law and governance stakeholders in Indonesia and beyond to bring together ideas in promoting and developing law and social studies to respond to the growing need for strong guiding principles in a borderless world. Therefore, the conference calls for the papers under these specific issues, as follows:
