There is no End of The Road: Cooperation between FH UNAIR and the Regional Office of KEMKUMHAM East Java

In the constitutional system that applies in Indonesia, the President is assisted by a minister who leads a state ministry as a government apparatus in charge of specific government affairs. As for government affairs in the fields of law and human rights, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is an agency that has the authority to assist the President in administering state government. To carry out the duties and functions in the regions according to their respective authorities, establishing Regional Offices in each province is unavoidable based on the provisions of laws and regulations. The Regional Office certainly has a vital role in ensuring that each region’s legal developments run smoothly. This enabled the cooperation between the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java Province to be well established for a very long time.

This condition was reflected when on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, Iman Prihandono, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Ph.D. as the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, was well received by Zaeroji, S.Sos., M.H., as the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java Province. In the meeting, the two discussed the relationship between the two institutions in the field of education and notary supervision. Cooperation in the field of education, for example, the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java Province has become a place for internships and Field Work Practices for students, both in immigration offices as well as detention houses and correctional institutions.

Not only that, Zaeroji, S.Sos., M.H. also welcomed the plan to invite him to be a guest lecturer delivering immigration materials. According to him, there are many immigration issues that law students need to know about. The spectrum of legal problems does not only concern foreigners’ residence permits, work permits, and deportations. Still, it is more complicated than that, including handling foreign refugees in Indonesia. In addition, shortly, he will also come to the best Law Faculty campus in Indonesia with the tagline “FH BEST” and meet students of Indonesia’s future generation of law.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and good relations that have been well established. “The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java Province is our significant partner. Therefore, there will never be ‘end of the road’ in this cooperation.
