Public Relations (24/09) | Wednesday (09/19) Located in one corner of the Surabaya District Court of Corruption (PN Tipikor), their fingers looked deft in pressing the camera’s camera button, their eyes focused on looking at the monitor screen while listening to the sound of the conversation being connected to the headphones. They seriously process the results of the session’s conversation into a written report. That was just a bit of the activity of students who were conducting activities to record corruption at the PN Tipikor Surabaya.
This student activity is part of the Session Recording Team which is the result of collaboration between FH UNAIR’s Center for Anti-Corruption and Criminal Policy (CACCP) with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The Session Recording Team consists of 14 people consisting of cross-forces. To be able to join this Session Recording Team, the requirements are quite easy, namely having a strong commitment and graduation or taking a criminal procedural law course.
Gius Lubis, a third year student who became the Chair of the Session Recording Team, revealed that the purpose of this activity was none other than to involve the role of students in guarding the corruption process. “We know for ourselves, even though it has been proven to have committed corruption, there are many judges’ decisions that are not comparable to the number of corruption, therefore we oversee the trial process”. Express it
He further said that the recording of the trial would later be made in the form of a CD that would be deposited with the KPK for use in further investigations if there were things that were not true in the trial process.
In addition, Gius revealed that there are so many benefits gained when taking part in the Session Recording Team, such as being able to know practically the proceedings in court and get new relationships from the KPK and Surabaya Corruption Corps and so forth. Finally, all the Session Recording Team also hopes that at the same time invite students to participate in the corruption prevention process at a minimum not to commit fraud in the presence process at the Faculty.
