Developments in economic, political, social or cultural fields make community need a lot of information related to these developments in order to increase knowledge and to keep abreast of the existing developments. In order to meet the need for such information, progress in the world of press is certainly needed. Through the press, all information related to economic, political, social and cultural fields can be known through the press. The press itself has grown rapidly after the government guarantees freedom of the press through Law No. 40 of 1999 on Press.
This press agency is not limited to national institutions, but also within the scope of student press institutions. Students as agents of change are required not to be apathetic to the developments that occur either within the campus environment or national development. A student should be able to voice the voice of the people as students are the tongue of the people. In the scope of the Faculty of Law Airlangga University, a place where students can appreciate the goals and ideals together to support the existing development is necesary. To support the fulfillment of the need for information in campus environment or information related to national development, Semi Autonomous Agency (BSO) of Student Press Institution “Nawaksara” was formed.
Nawaksara Student Press Agency was established as a journalistic forum for students to address the development of national and regional situation in general related to law in particular, both academic and non-academic. It was established on Monday, January 10, 2010 as an organization based on Pancasila. It is abbreviated as LPM Nawaksara. Nawaksara name is taken from the title Speech of Ir.Soekarno on 22 June 1966 in the fourth MPRS General Session. Nawaksara comes from the word “Nawa” which means nine and “Asksara” which means writing.
Making students become members of press that are able to participate in national and regional development in general and law in particular in accordance with joints of journalism based on moral of Pancasila.
Encourage and cultivate intellectualism of students who are critical and dynamic in analyzing national and regional situations with journalism as the area of application. Promote discussion rooms as a means of exploration and dialectics of student ideas as a form of criticism of national and regional situations through journalistic containers. Develop journalistic tradition of brave, honest, intellectual, and integration among students so as to encourage the creation of crystallization of critical and revolutionary ideas in the field of journalism as a form of extra-parliamentary pressure on the development of national and regional situation.
